Unlike other planispheres available on the market - primarily for Central Europe - this star map has been created precisely for the geographical location of the Canary Islands. The difference is clear: not only do other constellations appear in the sky there due to the more southerly latitude, but the view of the night sky is also shifted in time due to the location 18° west of the Greenwich Meridian. After all, this means a local time difference of 72 minutes, which would have to be corrected every time the device is used.

The map is aimed at all collectors, (astronomical) travelers and lovers of the Canary Islands. These are particularly well known as an easily accessible destination for their good astronomical observation conditions.

The map was designed by local experts. Kai v. Schauroth from the ATHOS Centro Astrónomico on La Palma collected the requirements for such a map over many years and then worked meticulously on its realization. The effort was worth it:

  • Color selection for good usability in daylight and with red light
  • The number of stars shown is adapted to the Canarian conditions
  • Selected number of deep-sky objects
  • Attractive appearance with constellations, milky way and other cartographic elements
  • On the back: A guide and photographic illustrations of "special" deep-sky objects that will also inspire beginners visually and photographically
  • Handy, but not too small size of the map with a diameter of 30cm
  • Moisture-resistant material
  • Tested under the starry sky of La Palma
